Hello everyone,
Before I talk about art, I want to share some personal news. I recently got engaged in a beautiful ceremony in Istanbul to my best friend. It was one of the happiest days of my life, and over the past few months, it’s been one of the reasons I’ve been slightly inactive.
Another reason for my inactivity is the awful, awful world we find ourselves in. I feel like we’ve really lost a part of our humanity. Every day, my thoughts are with Gaza. It feels so hard to work or pretend to be normal while the people there are living through hell. Stop the genocide and end the occupation of Palestine.
“The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognising this may be incapable of morality.”
— James Baldwin
This is my first blog post in a while, and I thought it would be a good time to share my plans for the rest of the year. Thank you to everyone who has supported me — those who like, share and comment on my work, those who commission pieces, and those who collect my art through Web3 or print sales. Without you, I honestly don’t know what I’d be doing. I am deeply grateful.
I have a lot of new 1/1s coming soon on SuperRare. I’ve been working on a collection of five paintings, all of which reflect the space between life and death — beyond the linear, day-to-day. I’ll also be slowly moving my artwork in a more contemporary direction, sharing looser sketches and trying to capture my daily feelings and reflections, especially on modern life. My next major print sale will most likely take place in August.
I’ve been collating my body of work into a small zine, including stories. It will be available soon, though I can’t specify a date just yet. I’ve also spent a lot of time writing lately, so I hope to share more details on that in the near future. In terms of my future work, I’ll continue to create for Web3 and work on commissions. One of my major goals towards the end of the year is to have a stand at a convention and, hopefully, have more work displayed in galleries.
I’m also beginning to look for representation now, as my workload is starting to increase. If anyone is interested, please get in touch with me at ahad@designbyahad.com
Anyway, let me leave you with this painting. In the coming days and weeks, keep a lookout for my next pieces.
